Position Title: Inventory Control Clerk

Reports To: KDS Warehouse Supervisor

Position summary:

The Inventory Control Clerk oversees the activities used to confirm, correct, and troubleshoot issues and processes that affect inventory accuracy. The primary responsibility is to ensure that the physical inventory matches the perpetual (3PL) inventory and product is put away properly. Their main duties include solving day to day inventory discrepancies, making necessary adjustments, analyzing inventory data and trends to implement process that creates optimal inventory accuracy. This role is responsible for working across the business with key departments coordinating inventory and inbound delivery related events (cycle counting and SOP updating) and communicating with WH operations, Customer Service and customers as requested.

Essential job functions and responsibilities:

  • Maintain inventory and location accuracy in the 3PL systems.
  • Maintain consumables ordering and inventory
  • Develop & implement effective procedures & standard work to improve inventory accuracy.
  • Initiate discussion and meetings to highlight and solve inventory related problems.
  • Be involved in communication process for operations meetings on matters related to inventory accuracy.
  • Perform cycle counts to ensure all inventory is accounted for and reported according to company policy.
  • Work with WH staff and Customer Service to provide immediate solutions to urgent inventory matters.
  • Investigate, correct, and report discrepancies in reported quantities and locations of all inventories including issues that arise from the warehouse team.
  • Perform timely and accurate updates including inventory adjustments in 3PL systems.
  • Work with WH Supervisor and/or KDS Manager to ensure a quick and accurate disposition of expired and quarantined product.
  • Oversee process related to damaged product on a real-time basis to minimize loss and backorders.
  • Issue daily reports for cycle count accuracy, location accuracy and daily adjustments.
  • Participate in the company’s annual physical inventory and zone or product specific counts.
  • Work with Operations to reposition stock based on seasonal and promotional changes to the inventory / sales plan.
  • Directly involved and may coordinate re-warehousing efforts required to create storage solutions for inventory.
  • Physically move, slot, replenish, consolidate inventory by hand, pallet jack, forklift or cherry picker
  • Perform quality control tasks to ensure that customer expectations are being met on inbound shipments.
  • Other various tasks that include inbound deliveries and put-away based on capacity

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Two plus years’ experience working with inventory in a high S.K.U environment.
  • Ability to flex schedule to support customer demands (may include occasional OT and/or weekend work).
  • High proficiency with MS Excel and ability to perform basic data analysis and report/graph generation.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in English both verbally and in writing. Spanish speaking is a plus.
  • Must be able to work with computers, scanners and other data collection or mgmt. systems.
  • Must be willing to accept new duties, develop new competencies as business needs and the role evolves.
  • Maintain certificates to operate approved IPE (Forklift etc.).
  • Achieve and maintain approved certifications related to Inventory Control best practices.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, grip, reach and lift up to 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis.
  • Must be able to walk and stand up to 90% of the workday to perform duties.
  • Must be able to perform desk/computer work from either a sitting or standing position.
